2021/22 AC Improvements
Despite the positive feedback and success of the recent PP programme, there will be changes to how this season is organised and delivered..
With the restricted timeframe in which to deliver the programme, available dates, coach availability and the Committee’s commitment to continually trying to develop what is offered in the county the PP programme will be run alongside a coach development initiative.
What it will look like
•Assessment Days will run as in previous years
(All details to be sent to schools and clubs to be shared with players).
•AC training and fixtures to take place from October 2021. Training to be Sundays and possibly Friday evenings this year.
•Involvement from the most experienced coaches in Devon including those with previous and current involvement in the PP at a higher level
•Players in AC to receive coaching from a variety of coaches they would not normally have access to
•Committed PP coaches learning from and working with more experienced coaches
•Opportunity for club and school coaches to attend and observe PP sessions and discuss content with coaches
•Higher level / experienced coaches to lead clinic / workshop style sessions to various Academy squads assisted by the squads coach who will be the consistent person for training and fixtures
•Fit for purpose in terms of restricted timescales and making the most of available coaches
•Providing players with access to variety of high level coaching
•Working with coaches to increase consistency of delivery (language, practice design) more effective shaping of programme to help develop knowledge of what is being looked for at higher levels in the PP etc
•Opportunity for club and school coaches (teachers) to observe and engage in conversation during sessions in an informal way (not be on a course)
